Arcadio Blasco: : Cinco esculturas urbanas (1986-1991)

2013

Comparative study of protective coatings for the conservation of Urban Art

2020

Abstract Contemporary mural paintings are complex artworks for several reasons, including the heterogeneity of the materials used to make them, and the different types of substrate on which the painting layers can be applied. Currently we are focused on a technical-scientific research aimed to solve the issues related to the long-term care and maintenance of murals, by evaluating the performance of several protective coatings applied on these artworks. This paper deals with a preliminary experimentation aimed to: (a) study the interaction of antigraffiti products on common synthetic paints; (b) test the effectiveness and efficiency of several commercial products used as antigraffiti; (c) de…

Graffiti, Street Art, Urban Art: Terminological Problems and Generic Properties

2013

In the last ten years, street art has become a very important factor in the international art scene. It has become a precious object to buy and preserve, and yet there is considerable confusion about the generic properties and definition of street art in academic research. As a rightful part of popular culture and urban culture, street art is not pure and independent. It intertwines with different art forms and urban subcultures and nurtures spin-off production. Therefore it is quite hard to trace its borders. Street art is not graffiti. They are different visual expressions and even though they might share the same space, artists and techniques, they still produce visually and conceptually…

Rappresentazioni nella città. Arte Urbana a Palermo

2019

Menzione d'Onore Borgo Vecchio Factory

2018

2020

The harmony of forms seems to be regulated by its own laws compatible with the cognitive processes that regulate their perception. From the mimesis of nature, artistic forms investigate the geometric relationships between the parts and define systems of representation that exploit the optical phenomenon of the tessellation to obtain complex configurations from simple polygonal modules were born. The simplest tessellation finds its first application in the mosaic whose origin as a practice is very ancient, evolving up to the Greco-Roman world enriching and differentiating itself in two essential styles, one pictorial and one abstract, both beautifully represented within the Villa Romana del …

The Persian Glimpse

2020

The paper presents the results of a residential workshop dedicated to ephemeral architecture and urban renewal. Through theoretical lectures, planning and design exercises and a close relationship with the inhabitants inside the place to regenerate, the work-shop made it clear to the group of students coming from the Politecnico di Milano, the Academy of Fine Arts of Brescia and the University IUAV of Venice that “light” design elements can clearly transform the perception of a place by improving its liveability.

JR's street art actions reflect on the life and history of cities and the ways of living there. The giant images of the faces of the inhabitants proposed in their own places of life invite to project the memory into the present using the power of photography to interpret faces: no longer masks but living representations, witnesses of the symbiotic relationship between inhabitants and cities.
